Drowning Prevention Program

Grant funding made possible by:
The Hillsborough Water Safety Team was able to focus on Drowning Prevention through the following activities.
  • Offer Family and Friends CPR Class’s FREE to the Community
    In this 3 hour class, taught by St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital, participants learned how to:

    • Perform CPR on an infant, child and adult
    • Rescue a choking infant, child and adult
    • Identify hazards for children
    • Prevent water safety drowning

  • Broadcast the Hillsborough Water Safety Team’s Toddler Pool Drowning PSA on More TV-32

  • Participate in Community Events held in Hillsborough County and the City of Tampa to increase the awareness of Childhood Drowning Prevention

Safe Kids Swim Lesson Program

Grant funding made possible by:
Through a partnership with Safe Kids Tampa, led by St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital, the Tampa Parks and Recreation Department offered vouchers for free swim lessons on a limited basis to eligible children ages 5-17 years.
